3rd UNCLE is very pleased to be designing the renewal of the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.

The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts has been a significant city-owned cultural institution in Toronto since 1970. It is the home of six resident theatrical and music companies, is the site of the StLC Forum, and is used by over 50 other arts and community organizations annually.

3rd UNCLE has designed the first of two stages of the St. Lawrence Centre's comprehensive Renewal Project. This first stage has been an endeavor to further engage the public with the design of new exterior signage, information systems, lighting, and an exterior canopy, to begin construction in the summer of 2006. The second stage will include a spatial and material refreshment of the lobbies and the Bluma Appel and Jane Mallett theatres in the summer of 2007. Both phases will serve to enrich the public's experience and sense of dramatic occasion, while improving and unifying a building that will benefit from a cohesive strategy of renovation.
